2024 PONANT Sydney Noumea Yacht Race - 122 days remaining

Mark your calendars as excitement is starting to build at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia ahead of the start of the 2024 Ponant Sydney Noumea Yacht Race.

The official countdown has begun, with just 122 days remaining until the exhilarating 1000-mile race unfolds. This significant ocean race promises a captivating showcase of skill, determination, and an unwavering passion by all competing teams.

As sailing enthusiasts and competitors gear up for the event, so do the hopes for a high-paced race, much like the thrilling edition in 2018.

Currently seeing 9 participants in IRC and 5 in PHS, the majority comes from New South Wales and Queensland. Notably, there are no entrants from other states or international participants as of now. This raises the question: "Which team is prepared to tackle this racing from Sydney to Noumea?".

Returning to the race this year is Smuggler, Owned and skippered by Sebastian Bohm, defending its titles in IRC, ORCi, and PHS from 2018. The yacht has been impressively campaigned over the last 6 years, the most notable change from the team has been shifting from a Rogers 46 to a TP52. Since their triumphant campaign in 2018, the Smuggler team has gathered extensive offshore racing experience, consistently securing top placings and establishing themselves amongst other top-teams in Australia.
